The New Media honors Digital Heroes during Habagat Floods

August 16, 2012 — Pioneer digital marketing site The New Media (www.thenewmedia.com) will be selecting the country’s best, most relevant heroes in the digital sphere, through the first-ever The New Media┬áDigital Heroes Awards on August 22, 2012.

The New Media Digital Heroes Awards is an ad hoc event that recognizes and acknowledges individuals and organizations that leverage digital communications to create value for the society, particularly during the week-long floods created by the recent Habagat floods. The first batch of awardees are key figures and organizations that exceptionally used various online channels to organize, lead, and galvanize rescue and relief operations to help different communities struck by the calamity.

The New Media’s Editor-in-Chief and partners will give plaques of appreciation to the following:

Mahar Lagmay, Project NOAH

DOST_Pagasa Twitter Team

MMDA Twitter Team

Aileen Apolo, Google and Google Volunteers

Undersecretary Manolo Quezon III, PCDSPO

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte

JP Loh, #RescuePH and #Relief PH

The site hopes that through this event they will be able to inspire more Filipino netizens to use social media and technology as a positive force, especially during times of calamity.
